Specialty Care Medical Director
The Villages Health is seeking a Specialty Care Medical Director to lead our Specialty Care Centers, ensuring the highest standards of medical care and advancing our commitment to patient-centered excellence.
As the Specialty Care Medical Director, you will provide clinical leadership, guide strategic direction, and foster collaboration across primary and specialty care. This role combines hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities to drive quality, efficiency, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor clinicians within Specialty Care Centers.
Develop and implement clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
Facilitate collaboration between primary and specialty care for value-based outcomes.
Conduct performance evaluations and regular team meetings.
Provide direct patient care approximately 2 days per week.
Oversee compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
Participate in budgeting and financial planning.
Represent the clinic in community outreach and engagement.
Requirements
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited institution.
Board-certified in Cardiology.
Licensed to practice in Florida.
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, with leadership preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience in healthcare administration and financial management.

Job Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
1. Clinical Leadership: The Specialty Care Medical Director is expected to lead by example and provide clinical leadership to the healthcare team, ensuring best practices in patient care and adherence to medical protocols. Developing and implementing strategies and metrics for collaborative care design with the Primary Care Medical Directors to ensure optimal, outcomes-based care delivery to patients across the practice. Monitor and analyze clinical performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Facilitate regular clinician staff meetings to discuss operational issues, share updates, and promote teamwork. Conduct regularly scheduled one on one meetings with clinicians to review overall performance and discuss any concerns and/or new ideas/opportunities for performance or operational improvements. Conduct annual performance evaluations for all clinician staff within the care center. Continuously advance the value based mindset of the specialty group. To facilitate collaboration between primary and specialty care to focus on value based medical care.
2. Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, safety, and satisfaction.
3. Policy Development: Assist operations to develop and implement clinical policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory standards.
4. Patient Care: Provide direct patient care approximately 2 days per week.
5. Financial Management: Participate in budgeting, financial planning, and the management of clinical resources. Review with the Care Center Manager, at least monthly, the Care Center PCP P&L Dashboard.
6. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with local leadership in both Primary Care and Specialty Care, administrative staff, other department heads, and external partners to support the organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
7. Compliance: Ensure the clinic complies with all TVH policies, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and ethical guidelines. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping practices are followed in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
8. Community Engagement: Represent the clinic in the community and promote its services through outreach and public relations efforts.
9. Research and Education: Encourage and support clinical research and ongoing education for medical staff.
10. Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the clinic's strategic plans, focusing on growth and improvement.
11. Advancing the team-based care approach in primary care to improve management of ambulatory sensitive conditions, the appropriateness of referrals, and the effectiveness of consultations.
